The Chicago Sky, the city’s entrant in the Women’s National Basketball Association’s professional league, narrowly missed qualifying for the postseason in 2024. The team took another step to improve in November 2024 when it hired Tyler Marsh as its new head coach.
Marsh visited HSL in January to thank the company for its partnership with the Sky. The team’s 2025 campaign begins in May, following the April draft in which the Sky have two first-round picks, at overall numbers 3 and 10.
“I’m so grateful to be the next head coach of the Chicago Sky,” Marsh said at the announcement of his hiring. “I’m looking forward to building relationships with our players and throughout our entire organization as we work towards establishing a championship culture on and off the court.”
Marsh, 37, spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach and head of player development for the Las Vegas Aces, helping the team win two WNBA championships. In 2023, the Aces set a WNBA record with 34 wins against just 6 losses.
He also holds a National Basketball Association championship ring for his work as an assistant coach for the Toronto Raptors in 2019.
Marsh’s coaching roots run deep; his father, Donnie Marsh, has been coaching college basketball teams for 45 years. Tyler Marsh even coached under his father during the 2017-2018 season.
